TheTransport and Drainage Assets teamwithin Council’sInfrastructure Services Departmentis seeking a motivated and experienced professional to play a central role in the strategic planning and asset management of Council’s extensive transport infrastructure portfolio asTransport Asset Planner. This role supports the network planning of roads, active transport, heavy vehicles, and public transport while developing strategic renewal programs and contributing to capital works planning and design. Our offer to you: Work life balance with a 9 day fortnight Save more with our salary sacrifice scheme Health and Wellbeing Benefits Key Responsibilities: Transport Infrastructure– Roads, pavements, bridges, culverts, footpaths, shared paths, cycleways, kerb and channel, traffic devices, lighting and more. Stormwater Infrastructure– Including stormwater pits and pipes, open channels, bio basins, and digital flood models. Marine Infrastructure– Boat ramps, jetties, sea walls, docks, and ports. Lead the development and review of road, bridge and public transport infrastructure performance. Deliver integrated transport strategies covering active transport, heavy vehicle and public transport planning. Maintain asset data, GIS systems, and registers. Progress Strategic Asset Management and Operational Plan actions. Set and review level of service standards based on cost, risk and asset condition. Support long-term financial planning through the preparation of strategic cost estimates. Oversee asset inspections and ensure proactive condition monitoring. Engage with state agencies (TMR, MSQ) to align planning with broader regional goals. Your skills and experience: Bachelor of Engineering (Civil). Accredited under the Washington Accord by Engineers Australia or Professionals Australia Experience in aspects of Asset Management, Road Design, Construction and Maintenance, Traffic/Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering or similar. Demonstrated skills in road pavement condition assessment, design, analysis and planning of maintenance treatments. Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant standards, codes and legislation for transport engineering (Austroads Guides, DTMR Standards and Specifications, select Australian Standards, Local Government Act 2009 (QLD) and Local Government Regulation 2012 (QLD) – or have experience with interstate equivalents) Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for transport projects. Experience in the management of external consultants, analysis of engineering reports and the ability to make prompt decisions, forward planning and constructability resolution. Demonstrated effective coordination, communication and integration with a range of stakeholders, including industry or community bodies, customers, and internal working groups and teams.
