About the Role Are you passionate about making a real difference in thelives of children and young people? We are seeking a Therapeutic Specialist to join our Youth Residential Service team. This pivotal role provides directtherapeutic support and guidance, helping to design, uplift, and embedtrauma-transformative, therapeutic, and culturally safe practices across careteams. You will work closely with children and young people withcomplex needs, ensuring care aligns with best practice frameworks, includingthe National Child Safe Standards and Better Care, Better ServiceGuidelines . Key Responsibilities Support teams to implement tailored therapeutic care models. Facilitate reflective practice and coaching to embed therapeutic principles. Develop individual care plans that incorporate the voice, aspirations, and cultural identity of each child and young person. Training& Capability Building: Co-designand deliver training in trauma-transformative care and TCI. Buildstaff confidence in responding to trauma-based behaviours usingproactive, strength-based approaches. CulturalSafety & Inclusion: Promoteculturally safe practice, especially for Aboriginal children and youngpeople. Advocatefor activities aligned with cultural plans and identity. ChildSafe Practice: Embedthe National Child Safe Standards in daily practice. Ensureenvironments where children feel safe, heard, and empowered. Workwith leaders to identify learning needs and strengthen practice capability. Contributeto evaluation, innovation, and sector-wide learning initiatives. What We are Looking For Tertiaryqualification in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work , or relatedfield. Extensiveexperience working therapeutically with children and young people inresidential or out-of-home care. Strongknowledge of trauma-transformative approaches, attachment theory, andchild development. Familiaritywith Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and behaviour supportframeworks. Understandingof National Child Safe Standards and culturally responsivepractice. Excellentcommunication skills and ability to deliver training and reflectivepractice sessions.
