Northern Territory Department of Education and Training – Nhulunbuy NT Administrative Officer 6 - Remuneration Package Range $114,088 - $126,997 (including salary $96,620 - $107,721) Skills NT Nhulunbuy One full time ongoing vacancy commencing 09 / 02 / 2026 is available The Role As a VET Trainer – Maritime Operations, you'll deliver nationally accredited competency-based training and assessment in school and training centre settings, ensuring national standards and student success. You'll design and deliver practical, engaging lessons that align with industry practices and safety standards, and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including those in regional and remote communities. You'll also : Deliver accredited training and assessment for VET in Schools programs. Manage RTO administration tasks such as enrolments, USIs, session overviews and records. Develop and review training resources and assessment tools. Maintain strong relationships with schools, employers, and industry partners. Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain industry currency and compliance with ASQA standards. Provide mentoring and support to school-based trainers delivering on country in the remote space. Travel by 4WD and/or small plane to visit schools across the Top End and East Arnhem regions to support the delivery of VET programs. About you You're an engaging and adaptable trainer who enjoys connecting with young learners and helping them discover real pathways into trades and maritime careers. You bring a collaborative spirit, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage training delivery across diverse settings. You will have : Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 3) Or equivalent, or willingness to upgrade Demonstrated experience delivering VET programs and developing high-quality learning resources. Current or recent industry experience in Maritime Operations (meeting ASQA currency requirements). Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across cultures and communities. What we do The VET for Secondary Students team works directly with schools and regions to enable VET programmes that contribute to the NTCET and prepare young people for meaningful post-school pathways into industry. In this role, you'll contribute directly to this highly rewarding objective by ensuring the unit operates efficiently and is well supported to deliver outcomes that make a difference to Territorians, industry, and the community.
