The role leads a small IT support team that delivers internal IT services. Duties & Responsibilities Manage on‑demand support for operational needs: helpdesk, monitoring, reporting, and escalation. Control costs and budgets, contribute to the annual IT budget, and reconcile corporate credit card transactions. Work with UNSW on provisioning of identity and laptop equipment. Administer IT‑related generic email accounts. Plan and execute IT operational projects. Co‑manage the Institute’s IT solution portfolio with the Head of IT. Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, UNSW IT staff, and internal stakeholders. Ensure data handling complies with legal and company guidelines. Support Windows, Android, and Apple mobile devices. Purchase, procure, and inventory new hardware. Oversee identity provisioning across Salesforce, Raisers Edge, SAS, financial systems, and Atlassian suite. Manage domain name registrations. Collaborate with the IT Cyber Team for cybersecurity across system layers. Work with People & Culture to ensure staff training on software suites. Develop and implement IT policies and best‑practice guides. Monitor industry trends for continuous improvement. Stakeholder Communication Manage contracts with IT vendors (SaaS, telecommunications, password managers, etc.). Maintain relationships with external suppliers and solution partners. Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware/software. Handle internal IT‑related communications. Employee Management Lead, motivate, and support the IT operations team. Manage day‑to‑day activities to meet operational plans. Conduct timely annual performance reviews. Co‑achieve employee development and performance improvement. Provide guidance and leadership ensuring effective team performance. Work, Health and Safety Comply with WHS legislation and BDI WHS policies. Report WHS hazards and significant issues to Director, People & Culture or delegate. Work safely, applying duty of care. Skills & Experience Required Essential Criteria Tertiary degree in Computer Science, IT or relevant field + minimum 2 years in a similar role. Minimum 2 years of team‑lead experience. Experience with systems installation, configuration, and analysis. CRM implementation and support experience. Knowledge of Windows environments. IT service delivery, operations support, incident response, and problem handling. Knowledge of networks, cloud computing, and telephony. Data protection operations and legislation knowledge (e.g., GDPR). Data governance principles. Strong communication skills and leadership experience. High organisational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Problem‑solving ability to meet client and team needs. Desirable Criteria ITIL certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and interactive online tools. Experience in a not‑for‑profit or research organisation. Knowledge of Mac environments.
