Fixed Term, Full Time Appointment | 3-year contract until 2029 Teaching Focused Academic Level A/B Annual salary $76,604 – $137,659 pa + 17% superannuation and 6 weeks annual leave Education City Precinct – Danala Campus Darwin | Larrakia Country About the Position As the Lecturer in Linguistics, you will be responsible for providing disciplinary expertise, knowledge development and support to students at the University through the delivery and provision of linguistics, language and academic literacies units as offered by the Faculty of Arts and Society. This position contributes to the teaching, coordination and development of language and linguistics units across the respective programs connected with the role, and other units across the Discipline of Education, Enabling and Linguistics, where appropriate. This position is available on a fixed-term contract only for a maximum of three years. About You To be successful, you will require: A postgraduate level qualification in linguistics or in a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education. Demonstrated understanding of and experience in teaching linguistics and academic literacies at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supporting students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including First Nations students and communities, and varying age groups. Knowledge and experience teaching and researching in contexts of First Nations languages and linguistics, and language revitalisation and maintenance. Ability to contribute to the development of units/courses and student resources (including for online and face to face) within the context and requirements of a quality education provider. Capacity to manage unit delivery across internal and external modes, including through online learning platforms such as Blackboard Ultra. Proven ability to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of units, courses, and student learning resources through reflective practice and scholarly approaches to teaching, both online and face‑to‑face. Excellent professional teamwork and communication skills, including oral, written, information communication technology (ICT) and interpersonal skills. Commitment to the University’s values. Additional Selection Criteria for Level B A PhD in linguistics or in a related field. Demonstrated experience in applying for research grants, undertaking research within linguistics and a track record of high‑quality publications. Experience in supervising research higher‑degree students. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high‑quality teaching underpinned by contemporary pedagogical approaches and curriculum knowledge. An emerging research profile demonstrated through publications, research projects, or clear progress towards a research plan. Demonstrated understanding of university learning environments and equity programs, and the ability to provide inclusive and supportive education for students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and age backgrounds. Proven ability to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of units, courses, and student learning resources through reflective practice and scholarly approaches to teaching, both online and face‑to‑face. Demonstrated capacity to represent the university in professional and community forums, and to build productive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners to achieve shared outcomes. Demonstrated ability to develop and use flexible/online computer‑based learning materials to suit the needs of a diverse student body. Remuneration Appointment to this role will be HE Academic Level A‑B. The base salary will be in the range of $76,604 – $137,659 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $xx,xxx – $xx,xxx per annum, including 17% superannuation.
