Wangaratta, Österreich Government schools Vollzeit

Overview Myrrhee Primary School is a small rural school dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities for every student. Families from both within and beyond the King Valley choose Myrrhee for its nurturing environment, small class sizes, and its strong emphasis point of need learning and wellbeing. Our low student numbers allow staff to build deep, meaningful relationships with all children in their care and to provide a genuinely holistic approach to teaching, learning and wellbeing. Located approximately 40 minutes from both Benalla and Wangaratta, Myrrhee Primary School is nestled in the majestic Myrrhee Valley and surrounded by 100 acres of beautiful bushland. Students and staff have a strong connection to this natural environment and frequently use the outdoors as an extension of the classroom for exploration, learning and play. All students learn to read, write and spell through Promoting Literacy Development (PLD), a Structured Synthetic Phonics program grounded in the science of reading. Students participate in daily explicit Sounds sessions delivered by teachers and supported by Education Support Staff across all grades. All curriculum areas are taught using evidence‑based explicit instruction, with purposeful use of our outdoor environment to enrich learning. Our strong outdoor education program provides opportunities for bike education, school camps and hands‑on gardening experiences. Students participate in the Social Enterprise programme throughout the year and weekly Making Day sessions, a hands‑on and creative approach to learning. Myrrhee is proud to have a therapy dog, Chilli, who supports student wellbeing across the school. Every week, Mindful Monday provides an intentional focus on emotional regulation, mindfulness and mental health. The day begins with a walk‑and‑talk through the bush, followed by sessions that proactively build students’ social‑emotional skills. A visiting speech pathologist attends fortnightly, delivering whole‑class support in the junior classroom and targeted Tier 3 intervention for individual students. Our school is staffed with a Principal, Business Manager and a highly skilled team of educators including a P‑1 teacher, a Year 2‑3 teacher and a Year 4‑6 teacher. Each class is supported by an Education Support Staff member, resulting in an outstanding adult‑to‑student ratio. This ensures all students receive personalised attention, targeted instruction and consistent support throughout the day. Staff frequently provide structured support for play at lunchtimes and additional intervention where required. Myrrhee is enriched by a range of specialist and extracurricular programmes. The school is serviced by a visiting Art Van and Library Van fortnightly, and students participate in weekly AUSLAN lessons. A comprehensive gymnastics programme is delivered in Term 1, complementing our physical education and outdoor learning focus. As a proud member of the King Valley Cluster of Schools, Myrrhee collaborates closely with neighbouring schools for camps, inter‑school sports, special events and shared learning opportunities. Myrrhee Primary School values strong partnerships with families and the local community.
