Rare in‑house claims management role for experienced professional indemnity solicitor. The Legal Practitioners’ Liability Committee (LPLC) is an independent statutory entity providing professional indemnity insurance to Victorian barristers and solicitors and many of Australia’s national law firms. The LPLC is seeking an experienced professional indemnity solicitor to join its claims team. As claims solicitor you will be required to use your litigation experience to manage a portfolio of claims. The position is unique and involves: Assisting LPLC Insureds (which range from senior counsel to sole practitioners) with the management and ultimate resolution of claims made against them. Gathering and recording key information in respect of each claim to evaluate the policy response and assess liability and quantum. The investigation and resolution of non‑litigated claims in house. This provides interesting and exciting exposure to all areas of law. Instructing and working collaboratively with the LPLC’s experienced panel solicitors to develop a strategy to resolve litigated claims. The successful candidate must have at least 7 years’ experience in either commercial or insurance litigation. In addition, any experience in property and conveyancing will be highly valued. Essential personal attributes are: an ability to formulate and implement appropriate claims resolution strategies; an ability to work autonomously and make decisions; a high level of maturity and competence; and strong interpersonal skills.
