We’re looking for an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and bring a strong sense of quality, consistency, and innovation to our growing inner‑city venue. You’ll be responsible for managing all back‑of‑house operations — from menu development and food preparation to stock control, cost management, and team leadership. This role suits a hands‑on chef with a passion for fresh, seasonal produce, café‑style dining, and building a positive kitchen culture. Key Responsibilities Oversee day‑to‑day kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and consistency. Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain a high standard of food preparation and presentation. Manage kitchen rosters, workflow, and team communication. Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health standards. Menu & Food Quality Develop and refine seasonal menus in collaboration with management, aligning with the café’s brand and vision. Ensure consistent quality, portion control, and presentation across all dishes. Stay up to date with food trends, local produce, and customer preferences. Implement new recipes and specials that enhance the café’s offering. Manage food and labour costs within budget targets. Oversee ordering, stock rotation, and supplier relationships. Minimise waste through efficient prep and inventory systems. Track and analyse sales data to support menu performance and profitability. Team & Culture Build a positive, respectful, and productive kitchen environment. Support ongoing staff development through training and mentorship. Collaborate closely with the front‑of‑house team to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction. Key Skills & Experience Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a Head Chef or senior chef role (preferably in a café or casual dining environment). Proven leadership and organisational skills. Strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and stock management. Knowledge of current food trends and café‑style cuisine. Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
