Remote is seeking an experienced Product Owner to join the team at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The product owner is expected to enhance business systems used by the Department’s security functions in Australia and overseas missions. (RFx26485) Role Description Successful candidates will be required to undertake the following (but not limited to) tasks: Assist with defining and managing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for multiple projects. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyse needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals. Gather and prioritise stakeholder requirements into a clear product backlog according to business value or ROI. Continuously refine backlog based on feedback and identified needs. Develop detailed product feature specifications and ensure they’re clearly understood by relevant teams. Oversee the product development process. Regularly report on progress to stakeholders. Work closely with IT partners to provide clear requirements, and to ensure smooth delivery. Manage the product release priorities for delivery of new functionalities. Track product performance and use insights to guide improvements. Mitigate roadblocks to achieving business goals. Input into organisational change management when delivering the product. Serve as the product ambassador, sharing knowledge and answering questions. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience: Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role. Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices. Understanding of business value related to features and functions. Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills. Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders. Data-driven mindset with solid analytical skills. Outstanding leadership skills and problem-solving abilities. Experience working in a complex environment. The successful candidate will also have: Previous experience with DFAT and Government policy and governance standards and requirements (desirable).
