Overview Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior System Software Tester/Integrator to join our Traffic Management System V&V Engineers team. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia. You will work in a diverse multicultural team focused on testing and integration of software-intensive systems, applying software verification and validation best practices and safety-critical techniques based on international standards (CENELEC), with a strong emphasis on improving software quality and test efficiency. Responsibilities Guarantee effective preparation and execution of Factory and Site Tests to verify and validate against system requirements, architecture, interfaces and operating scenarios. Create test cases through in-depth technical analysis of functional and non-functional specifications. Increase and consistently improve automation of software testing within a continuous integration environment. Support coordination of systems requirements management activities. Contribute to the issuance of test and integration plans and monitor project activities and indicators. Maintain a list of project issues and ensure discussion and agreement with the Project Engineer and Project Manager. Engage constructively with individuals from diverse backgrounds to achieve high-quality outcomes. Required skills and knowledge Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Systems or Software Engineering or Information Technology Rail Industry Worker card and competencies (current or eligible to obtain) At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the rail signalling field Aptitude for automated testing of integrated systems Strong logical reasoning and problem investigation/solving skills Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare test artefacts to a high standard Aptitude for manual and automated testing of an integrated system Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development lifecycle Extensive software language knowledge for server side, front end and DevOps Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, Selenium Working knowledge of software platforms (e.g., Linux, VMware, Podman/Docker) Competence with relational database technologies (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB) Understanding of various network topologies Benefits Global company with work-life balance Opportunities for career progression with training and development Salary Continuance Insurance For more information, visit the Hitachi Rail careers page: At Hitachi Rail, there is a place for everyone.
