(Organisation site )Governance Freight and Partnerships; Transport Strategy and Planning; Policy Planning and Investment; Brisbane CBDThe Freight team is accountable for the development and implementation of freight plans, strategies, and policies to inform and influence planning and investment decisions that support the department’s strategic freight agenda to deliver an integrated, resilient, and safe freight system for Queensland's economy and communities.

You will be required to contribute to a significant and challenging program of work and apply a multi-modal approach in the development of freight plans, strategies, and policies to inform and influence policy, planning and investment decisions that support an integrated, resilient, and safe multi-modal freight system for Queensland's economy and communities.Some of your responsibilities will include:Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders to lead project management initiatives and resolve freight specific issues that improve cooperation, coordination, and transfer of knowledge during policy formulation and implementation processes and ensure that the government's transport related priorities are achieved.Identifying and assessing opportunities for multi-modal integration and fostering innovative solutions to existing and emerging supply chain issues.Leading a multi-disciplinary team in the development and implementation of freight policies, plans and strategies in response to government priorities and direction that enhance the efficiency, development and integration of the multi-modal freight system in Queensland.Leading and managing the departments strategic freight agenda, provide high level, timely, strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, General Manager, Executive Director and other senior executives on a broad range of issues relating to freight policies, strategies and initiatives aimed at developing and effectively operating an efficient multi-modal freight transport system supporting Queensland's economic development.Representing the department on national and state freight related working groups to champion innovative ideas, promote the application of emerging technologies and liaise with freight industry stakeholders to identify emerging freight and supply chain issues and trends.Collaborating with various key stakeholders including Divisional Leadership Team, TMR Districts, Branches, Engineers, industry bodies and associations, state jurisdictions and other government agencies to drive a customer centric culture and ensure the best freight transport policy outcomes are operating effectively and efficiently.We recognise and celebrate that everyone is unique and seek the applicant best suited to the role. To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:Mandatory qualifications and conditions:Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prrior to appointment of the role.Experience, knoledge, skills and attributes:Good knowledge and understanding, or ability to acquire knowledge and understanding, of supply chain and freight issues, trends, challenges, and opportunities.Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills (written and oral), with experience in successfully collaborating with various stakeholders across government and/or industry sectors to negotiate positive strategic work outcomes within required time constraints.Ability to a lead team in a changing environment to rapidly respond to urgent requests while delivering a multi-faceted work program.Strategic thinking and innovative problem solving.Applications will remain current for 12 months,Job Ad Reference: QLD/566816/24Further information
