Part time (30.4 hrs p/w) opportunity based in Lismore NSW $38.65 per hour (SCHADS Level 3B) + Leave loading + salary packaging benefits Change lives, empower young people and be part of a team that genuinely cares About the Program The YCLSS program supports the recovery of young people living with mental illness through tailored, community‑based psychosocial support. It aims to reduce the risk of long‑term disability and minimise the need for frequent or extended hospital stays. We help young people stay connected with family, friends and community; engage in education, work and meaningful activities; build healthy habits; and secure stable housing. The program also supports families to better understand and assist their young person's recovery, while accessing help for their own wellbeing needs. About the Role As a Peer Recovery Worker, you’ll use your own lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to inspire hope and connection. You’ll walk alongside young people on their recovery journey—offering empathy, encouragement and practical support to help them build confidence, resilience and self‑management skills. Working as part of the integrated YLCSS team, you’ll support participants to develop key life skills including social connection, decision making, leadership, teamwork, healthy living and community involvement. You’ll also help strengthen natural supports and facilitate Wellways’ peer learning programs. You don’t need to know everything from day one, we will support you to learn and grow. What matters most is your passion for working with young people and your willingness to walk alongside them, even when the journey isn’t easy. Ideally, you’ll bring A contemporary understanding of mental health and recovery‑oriented practice (or a strong interest in developing this knowledge) Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills Flexibility, creativity and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of young people A commitment to learning and development through supervision, training, and reflection You will also need Completion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health, Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer/Work or Certificate 4 in Community Services or equivalent practical experience working in a mental health role.
