About the Program The Friendship Club is a respite program for over‑65s based at Wakefield House that provides meaningful activities. Volunteers and staff foster a positive, friendly, and safe community for members. As a volunteer bus driver, you will play a crucial role in enhancing social inclusion by transporting clients to and from Wakefield House. Key Tasks Be friendly and helpful: greet passengers with a smile and ensure they feel welcome. Drive safely: follow the rules of the road and keep everyone safe. Help passengers: assist people who need help getting on or off the bus. Follow the plan: be receptive to your volunteer coordinator's instructions. Report problems: inform the volunteer coordinator immediately if something goes wrong. Keep the bus clean: maintain a tidy and well‑conditioned vehicle. Skills / Knowledge / Personal Qualities Must have a current Class C Driver's Licence. Good at working with others as part of a team. Kindness and understanding of clients. Ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Tech‑savvy: able to use a smartphone and GPS. Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to report accidents. Physically fit: able to perform the job's physical tasks. Time Commitment Join us every Monday and Thursday and become vital to our community's support network. If it suits your schedule better, you may choose to volunteer only one shift a week. Special Requirements Valid South Australian driver’s licence. Satisfactory National Police Check (NPC); will be organised for you. Department of Human Services (DHS) clearance (Aged Care Sector) prior to offer of employment; will be arranged for you. Medical letter from your GP. Competency level achieved by driving; will be organised for you.
