Part time, Casual/Temporary, Full time, Contract, Permanent About the Role WA Country Health Service is seeking a passionate Consultant Psychiatrist (CAMHS) to join our team at Kalgoorlie and Esperance Health Campus. As a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within the Goldfields Region, you will play a crucial role in providing psychiatric assessment, treatment, and management for children and adolescents (0‑18 years) and their families. You will focus on the 0‑18 age group, addressing a range of presentations including insecure attachment issues, anxiety, neurodivergent complexities, and increased risk issues such as suicidal ideation, non‑suicidal self‑injury, and substance use. You will also tackle school‑related difficulties and contribute to the overall well‑being of our diverse patient population in the region. Your role will involve collaborating with the Regional Manager Mental Health, Director of Clinical Services, and the CAMHS team leader to offer consultation and clinical advice to multidisciplinary teams, supporting the provision of mental health services across the entire Goldfields region. Regular travel between Kalgoorlie and Esperance is required, with outreach services in Norseman, Laverton, Leonora, and Menzies. You will also collaborate closely with Aboriginal communities, expanding cultural awareness and actively contributing to cultural safety practices in the Goldfields. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, without on‑call responsibilities. Opportunity to participate in exciting projects within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) space, implementing ICAMHS Taskforce recommendations and Models of Care, and contributing to innovative service design, particularly in infant mental health. Qualifications and Experience Medical degree and Board‑approved specialist training in psychiatry. Experience in child and adolescent mental health services or related clinical practice. Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams. Understanding of Aboriginal cultural contexts and commitment to cultural safety. Ability to travel extensively within the Goldfields region. Remuneration Consultant Year 1‑9 salary range: $395,490 to $502,265 per annum, inclusive of base salary, professional development allowance of $34,696 per annum, and a 12% employer contribution to superannuation. Salary based on a Full‑Time salary under the WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024. Benefits Competitive salary packages among the highest in Australia. About the Region The Goldfields‑Esperance region is the largest in Western Australia, covering 771,276 km². Approximately 55,000 people live here, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples representing about twelve percent of the population. The region includes the Golden Outback, rugged plains, national parks, and coastal attractions such as the Byron Wetland Walk Trail, Woody Island, and Lake Monjingup.
