Clinical Nurse Consultant (Step-Up Step-Down) Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service – Rockhampton QLD The Step‑Up Step‑Down service is a short‑term sub‑acute residential service (up to 28 days) with recovery‑focused mental health support to help consumers transition out of hospital or avoid a hospital admission. It is for people from Central Queensland who are experiencing severe mental health issues that make it difficult to be at home. About the role The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse who, in partnership with the non‑government organisation (NGO) servicing the Step‑Up Step‑Down Service and the multi‑disciplinary mental health teams of the Central Queensland Hospital Health Service, will provide specialist clinical mental health nursing practice to support the delivery of evidence‑based mental health interventions to consumers. The role entails the provision of intake, assessment and short‑term, intensive mental health interventions, admission and discharge planning in collaboration with the appointed NGO. About you Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate. Eligible practitioners will be required to achieve and maintain Authorised Mental Health Practitioner status and undertake roles and functions in accordance with the Mental Health Act 2016. While not mandatory, the following would be considered highly desirable; Possession of relevant post‑registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing/education would be well regarded for a position at this level. While not mandatory, Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses. Knowledge of current national and state mental health care, including the Mental Health Act 2016 and National Standards for Mental Health Services 1996 is highly desirable.
