Look no further The Multicultural Communities Council of SA (MCCSA) is welcoming enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers from diverse cultural backgrounds to join our Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) . You'll offer friendship and companionship to an older person, helping reduce loneliness and social isolation. This flexible and rewarding opportunity is perfect for working, studying, or retired people and it's a beautiful way to give back to the community. Key Details Age: Volunteers must be 18 years or older Commitment: At least 20 visits per year (about one hour every fortnight) Activities: Share stories over a cup of tea, go for a walk, or enjoy a hobby together No personal care involved: Volunteers do not assist with meals, finances, advocacy, or personal care Centrelink approved: This role meets mutual obligation requirements for those aged 55+ What are we looking for Patience, empathy, and excellent communication (especially listening) Respect, kindness, reliability, and a non-judgmental attitude Flexibility and the ability to follow boundaries, policies, and procedures Most importantly, a genuine enjoyment of spending time with older people Additional Info A National Police Certificate is required (we can help you apply and it is free of charge). Each visit is approximately 1 hour long. You can choose a time that suits both you and the resident. A monthly contact sheet and visit record must be submitted to the coordinator. Training: All ACVVS volunteers receive an induction before starting. Ongoing training is offered every two months.
