Overview Designer - Homewares (Dinnerware, Hard & Soft Goods) Join a dynamic Homewares design team for Kmart and Target. We are an inclusive team powering two iconic brands with a global presence, delivering thoughtfully designed, affordable products that brighten daily living. As our Homewares Designer, you will lead the end-to-end design process across a diverse product range, from concept development through to final execution. What You’ll Be Doing Identify, interpret and implement global homeware trends to grow sales while bringing meaningful moments into customers’ lives. Design across key Dining categories, including dinnerware, napery, drinkware, and food or lunch storage. Develop desirable, trend-forward products that resonate with customers and elevate everyday experiences. Lead product development to create innovative and marketable designs aligned with the brand image and target market. This includes trend research, concept development, and collaboration with product development teams to bring designs to market. Forecast trends and identify new product opportunities in the homewares market. Drive ongoing improvement across product innovation, process excellence, and workplace culture. Build relationships and influence key stakeholders; collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Development, Buying, Manufacturing) to ensure feasibility and brand alignment. Conduct market research and trend analysis to inform design decisions and stay ahead of industry trends. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery on critical paths. Translate global home trends into commercially relevant designs reflecting Kmart’s style. Develop and inspire a high-performance team and culture across the team and with stakeholders. To be successful in this role you’ll have Proven experience in a hard and soft goods design role — 8+ years. Strong ability to forecast and implement on-trend product ranges with commercial appeal. Good understanding of commercial range architecture. Excellent ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders. High proficiency in Illustrator, SolidWorks or other 3D capability programs and Photoshop. Ability to create accurate technical specification drawings. Solid knowledge of factory capabilities and limitations for mass production. Experience in product development in conjunction with factories. Excellent time management and organizational skills and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Confident and articulate presentation skills with strong attention to detail.
