Project Overview Bechtel Mining and Metals provides engineering, procurement, and construction services for mining projects across commodities such as Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths. The global business unit has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide and execution units in the U.S., Peru, KSA, India and other locations. The project is a greenfield mining, process, material handling and ship loading site focused on sustaining production, minimizing environmental impacts, strengthening community relationships and fostering local economic development. Job Summary As a Deputy Site Manager you will supervise or manage construction activities on an EPC (direct-hire) project, responsible for organization, direction, schedule, budget, and quality compliance. The role is FIFO to North Queensland on a 2 : 1 roster. Major Responsibilities Act as alternate Site Supervisor Engineer (SSE) and perform SSE functions when absent. Organize field workforce to ensure qualified personnel. Establish and maintain construction schedules, manning charts, material and equipment requirements. Control jobsite expenditures for labor, equipment, material and services. Provide progressive training to subordinate personnel. Manage craft resources and coordinate with the corporate craft resources department. Administer security plan and coordinate with corporate security. Ensure construction operations adhere to engineering designs, specifications, quality, schedule, and budget. Coordinate construction operations to align with overall project schedules. Develop field procedures and objectives within corporate policies. Lead and support implementation of the Project Health and Safety Management Systems. Review and provide input to Health and Safety management plans, training plan, emergency response plan, and related HSMS documentation. Maintain and develop specific emergency response plans. Education and Experience Requirements A recognized degree in engineering or a scientific discipline. Specialized courses in construction management. Prior work experience that demonstrates thorough understanding of the above. Preferably execution experience on an EPC (direct-hire) project. Required Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of all phases of construction operations and field activities of engineering disciplines. Knowledge of Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy. Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, Supervisors ES&H Manual, Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes. Knowledge of the Project Construction Environmental Control Plan.
