The Commission is an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people. It has a particular focus on vulnerable children and young people. The Commission is also the regulator for the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme. The Commission supports flexible and hybrid working models
The Senior Policy and Planning Officer reports to the Manager, Policy, Strategy and Data. The role will primarily be responsible for the strategic and business planning functions for the Commission, including coordination of the Commission's Annual Report.
Working across the Commission, the role will also provide expert policy advice and undertake the development, analysis and coordination of, and response to, policy documents that impact children and young people or otherwise relate to the work of the Commission.
The Senior Policy and Planning Officer will also support the Principal Commissioner by coordinating provision of a range of supporting material, including written advice on complex issues, briefing and meeting notes, and background materials and speaking points for speeches.
In this role you will:
- Lead the strategic and business planning functions for the Commission, including coordination of the Commission's Annual Report
- Support the Principal Commissioner by coordinating a range of supporting material, including providing written advice on complex issues, meeting notes and background materials and speaking points for speeches.
- Contribute to the provision of advice and analysis on relevant policy, practices and services relating to the work of the Commission and its key stakeholders.
- Lead the development and coordination of submissions on complex policy issues and identify and report on new and emerging trends in policy, practice and services.
About You

- Have experience in providing high-quality policy advice in a government context
- Have the ability to undertake a diverse range of tasks in a high pressure environment of competing priorities and tight timeframes

- Have an interest in improving policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people.
