About your new role This role sits within the City’s Safety & Wellbeing Strategy business unit, a team committed to driving strategic safety outcomes and supporting leaders across the organisation. You’ll be part of a small, high‑impact Safety Assurance team of 6 people, focused on improving Safety & Wellbeing capability, assurance and performance. The Due Diligence Engagement Lead is a strategic role within the City’s Safety & Wellbeing Branch, focused on partnering with executive leaders to embed and elevate WHS due diligence practices across the organisation. This role works in close partnership with the executive team, offering practical guidance and support to help strengthen due diligence practices. A key focus will be co‑developing a Due Diligence Reporting Framework and supporting tools that empower leaders to engage with meaningful safety insights and make well‑informed, risk‑based decisions. Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of a structured approach to WHS due diligence that supports leaders with the tools, insights, and guidance needed to meet legislative obligations with confidence. Collaborate with executive leaders to enhance access to and engagement with Safety & Wellbeing information, enabling confident, risk‑informed decision‑making. Oversee the design and rollout of the Due Diligence Reporting Framework and supporting tools that promote strategic safety oversight. Integrate due diligence into leadership practices to reinforce a culture of accountability, curiosity, and proactive safety leadership. Provide strategic advice and contemporary thought leadership in due diligence engagement. Design and deliver tailored Safety & Wellbeing education, including leadership induction and ongoing capability‑building initiatives aligned to executive needs. Develop and present meaningful Safety & Wellbeing insights and due diligence performance reporting to key governance forums, enabling evidence‑based safety leadership. We're looking for people who have: A degree or diploma in relevant field (WHS or Law highly regarded) Thorough technical knowledge of current QLD WHS legislation and its application Excellent problem solving and decision‑making abilities Strong influencing and consulting skills Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships and engage a range of stakeholders Current open driver’s licence – class C unrestricted Be part of shaping the Gold Coast's future The Gold Coast is inspired by lifestyle and driven by opportunity.
