Role Overview As a Paralegal at mySMB.com and mySMB Legal , you will play a key role in delivering practical, timely, and compliant legal support to small and medium businesses. You’ll work across a broad range of matters, contributing to clear, actionable advice and high‑quality legal documentation that helps SMBs operate confidently within legal and regulatory frameworks. This role sits at the intersection of legal practice and innovative technology . You’ll use AI‑enabled research tools, document automation, and modern workflows to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and client experience. By supporting the Legal team with drafting, research, compliance tasks, and client interaction, you’ll help deliver cost‑effective legal solutions that truly meet the needs of Australian SMBs. You will also contribute to the development of legal resources, templates, and guides that form part of mySMB.com’s broader mission to empower businesses with accessible, plain‑English information. Key Responsibilities Legal Drafting & Advisory Support Draft, review, and prepare contracts, policies, templates, and other legal documents tailored to SMB needs. Assist with preparing clear, plain‑English legal advice under the supervision of senior legal staff. Support the development and maintenance of legal precedents, toolkits, and client resources. Research & Compliance Support Conduct legal research using AI‑enabled tools and traditional methods to support advice and decision‑making. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting SMBs and update internal knowledge bases accordingly. Assist in managing compliance tasks, checklists, and processes across employment, privacy, commercial, and other SMB‑relevant areas. Internal Collaboration & Knowledge Management Work with internal teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business initiatives and product development. Support the creation of internal guidance materials, workflows, and process improvements. Help maintain accurate and organised legal records, files, and document management systems. Client Support & Communication Respond to client queries in a timely and professional manner, providing clear and practical guidance (under appropriate supervision). Assist in preparing client‑facing resources such as fact sheets, guides, and checklists. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Law degree (completed or near completion). Excellent legal research and drafting skills. Ability to use digital tools for document management and research. Ability to translate legal concepts into plain English. Willingness to learn and develop expertise in contract and commercial law principles as they apply to SMBs. Working knowledge of contract and commercial law principles, with the ability to research and apply legal concepts. Experience working in a law firm or in‑house legal team. Familiarity with AI tools for legal research or document automation.
