Designer Dean Pty Ltd T / A Ol' Painting, based in Naremburn NSW, are into painting, and they can handle any painting project effortlessly. Due to expansion of business, there is a vacancy for a skilled and experience painter to join their business. This is a full-time position for right applicant. Main Tasks Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool and additionally remove old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting. Spread drop cloths over floors as well as room furnishings, and also cover surfaces, like baseboards, door frames and windows to protect surfaces during painting. Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc. Read blueprints / instructions and examining surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary. Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with appropriate material caulk, putty, plaster etc. Select premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil for required colour. Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate as well as protect interior or exterior surfaces. Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools like brushes, spray gun and paint rollers. Painting interior and exterior surfaces (like walls, ceilings, floor, woodwork, windows, roofs, decks, wooden and plastic furniture, and tiles). Thinning drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colours. Remove fixtures, like pictures, electric switch covers, from walls prior to painting, using screwdriver. Create special effects like wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects by applying paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers. Put up scaffolding or setting up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush. Apply wallpaper fabrics. Work closely with clients to select colour schemes and finishes. Estimating costs involved and negotiating prices. Requirements AQF Certificate III relevant qualifications with two years’ experience or Certificate IV. Relevant experience and skillset to perform aforementioned duties. At least 2 years’ experience in a domestic painting role in the painting and decorating industry. Must have construction induction card. Good understanding of colour theory and various finish types.
