About the Role We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as a Security Officer. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity where you can make a real difference. As a Security Officer, you will provide essential security services across our sites, ensuring the safety and protection of staff, patients, visitors, premises, and property at Perth Children's Hospital. As a key member of the emergency response team, you will be responsible for responding promptly to duress alarms, fire alarms, and other emergency situations. You will take direction from the clinical team in responding to incidents of violence and aggression and seek to manage conflicts before they escape. Your ability to problem solve, understand people's needs, apply professional experience including conflict management techniques, and uphold CAHS values of empathy and respect will be crucial in this role as you assist clinical staff in managing complex situations. Prior understanding and competence in restraint techniques and a thorough understanding of the relative legislative requirements will be highly regarded. About our Team The Security Team at the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment across Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) and other CAHS sites including emergency departments, mental health areas, and community health facilities. Dedicated to protecting staff, patients, and visitors from violence and aggression, they work closely with clinical teams, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on delivering exceptional care to children and young people. The team undergoes comprehensive site‑specific and internal training, including clinical de‑escalation and security‑specific techniques, ensuring they are well‑prepared to handle a wide range of situations effectively. Their responsibilities include responding to emergency codes, duress alarms, and other urgent situations throughout the hospital and its premises. They also manage security systems, oversee access control, and conduct regular patrols. Additionally, the team handles incidents requiring law enforcement involvement and is responsible for the hospital's helicopter landing operations.
