The Victoria Police LSD provides legal services and advice to support policing, courts, and the Victorian community. The LSD is led by an Executive Director (who is also the organisation's General Counsel) and employs over 800 staff spread across four divisions – the Office of the Executive Director; the Specialist Legal and Litigation Division; the Courts & Prosecution Services Division; and the Legal Business Operations Division. This role is performed within the National Information Sharing Support Unit (NISSU) which is aligned with the Subpoena Coordination Unit (SCU). NISSU provides responses to orders received from the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court of Australia under the National Information Sharing Framework. Victoria Police is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated person to undertake administrative responsibilities by assessing and uploading court orders received from the Family Court from various court registries. As the successful applicant, you will have the ability to efficiently manage database applications with competing priorities whilst providing administrative support to colleagues. As the successful applicant, you will be working within the Legal Services Department reporting to the Assistant Manager as a vital part in the overall function of NISSU. You will be required to provide daily support and assistance to the team in an administrative capacity. The VPS2 Legal Support Officer will report directly to the VPS4 Assistant Manager of NISSU who reports to the Senior Sergeant of the Subpoena Coordination Unit (SCU). Your duties will include: Assist in the administration of court orders through the application of legal, policy and procedural guidelines and provisions. Receiving, recording, management, and maintenance of records and undertaking a wide range of data entry and information management functions within NISSU. Assist in identifying quality issues in accordance with established standards relating to high quality information management. Provide a high quality of customer service to internal and external stakeholders and adopt best practice behaviours in all interpersonal dealings whether verbally, in writing or working within the team. Answering phone and email enquiries including authoritative and timely advice to managers and other key stakeholders. Monitoring and actioning group email accounts of the Unit, and escalating complex enquiries when required. Undertaking other duties as required by the Assistant Managers and Senior Sergeant. As the successful applicant, you will have: A high level of planning and organisation skill with demonstrated ability to adhere to critical timelines and security requirements. The ability to work well within a small team environment and autonomously. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and maintain good working relationships with a diverse range of customers both internal and external to ensure the team goals are met. Demonstrated ability to exemplify, maintain self-discipline and organisation skills with the capacity to provide the levels of integrity and professionalism required by the unit. Flexibility to adapt to and be a champion of change as is necessary for the Unit's function. A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police code of Ethics and Organisational Values Working autonomously on specific tasks to ensure they are completed in an appropriate timeframe. Requirements and relevant information: One (1) x full-time, fixed term until 30/06/2027 position is available. The salary range for a VPS2 role is $60,295 to $77,430 (covering salary ranges VPSG2.1 and VPSG2.2). Although it is standard practice for selected candidates to commence at the base of the salary range, genuine consideration will be given to a commencement salary within the available range that is commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills and experiences. This will be subject to negotiations with the Hiring Manager in the course of the selection process and may include the provision of evidence of a higher income and/or supporting documentation (as required). This position is located at 456 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000. The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening. As a member of the Legal Services Department, you will be located on selection, at a specific office within a division for a particular advertised opportunity. However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department.
