About the Role A Software engineer at btrmnt is more than a developer, you’re a technologist, designer, and creative problem solver all in one. You build with speed and intent, think like a founder, and ship before someone else even finishes writing a ticket. You love AI and have probably already built something cool with it. This role is for recent grads or early‑career engineers ready to go fast and learn everything. What You’ll Do Prototype & Ship Fast You’ll design, build, and deploy AI‑powered product features from scratch. We move quickly and iterate constantly. Use the Latest AI Stack Claude Code, prompt frameworks like langchain, vector DBs, you’ll be using them all. Design Without Figma You’ve got a solid UX eye and can code up beautiful interfaces in HTML, CSS, and JS/React without waiting on mockups. Work Autonomously, Not Alone You’ll have autonomy to go deep, but we collaborate tightly when it matters. Think high‑trust, low‑process. What We're Looking For Local but Global‑Minded : You’re based in Newcastle/Lake Mac and want to stay here without sacrificing meaningful, global‑impact work. Fresh Eyes, No Baggage : You’re a recent grad or early‑career engineer who doesn’t need to unlearn outdated workflows. You’re entering the industry as it transforms and you’re ready to build the new way, not the old way. Comfortable in Chaos : You don’t need Jira to tell you what to do. You get joy from turning ambiguity into action. Builder’s Mindset : Whether it’s a script, a product, or a business, you’ve probably started building something before you felt “ready.” AI Curious : You’re already tinkering with prompts, agents, and the latest LLM tools. ChatGPT is the first place you go to when you have a question that needs answering. Tech Stack Comfort : JS, Python, plus a growing AI toolkit (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini etc). You Think AI is the Future of Work : Because it is and you want to shape that future. The software industry is shifting fast.
