We're looking for a Wildlife Project Officer —a skilled communicator, strategic thinker, project manager and team player to help lead evidence-based wildlife management across the state. In this role, you'll work at the heart of a dynamic network of partners—from local councils and community groups to researchers and industry stakeholders—to design practical solutions that support both native wildlife management. You'll help turn science into action, build community understanding, and champion integrated, forward-thinking intervention strategies. What You'll Achieve Shape and deliver coordinated wildlife management programs across the Department and beyond. Build strong, strategic relationships with agencies, researchers, and community organisations. Create training, tools and resources that lift capability across the sector. Boost public awareness through engaging education materials and outreach campaigns. Provide clear, timely advice that helps solve real-world wildlife management challenges. Ensure responsible, transparent use of departmental resources and budgets. What You Bring A solid, up-to-date understanding of wildlife management. A knack for using engagement, extension and education techniques to drive practical outcomes. Experience delivering community-focused projects in wildlife or natural resource management. The ability to interpret legislation and policy with confidence and clarity. Excellent communication skills—plain English, well-researched, reader-focused. Sharp information-gathering instincts and the ability to distil complex issues into clear insights. Bonus Points A degree in science or natural resource management. Familiarity with the National Parks and Wildlife Act or similar legislation. Special Conditions May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties. You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions. A current class 'C' driver's licence and willingness to drive is essential. Inter and intrastate and remote area travel may be required, including travel in light aircraft and work outside of the normal hours of work. Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check. Remuneration ASO5, $85,790 min - $95,413 max p.a.
