We are currently recruiting for a Lead Medical and Emergency Response, who will report directly into the Director Health & Safety. The Lead Medical & Emergency Response provide leadership and oversight of emergency response and medical services, ensuring workforce health, compliance, and effective emergency preparedness. The role will play a key part in ensuring our operations remain safe, compliant, and continuously improving. You’ll provide specialist advice across the business, working closely with leadership and frontline teams to drive a strong safety culture. This role is being offered on a 5 : 2 : 4 : 3 roster. Responsibilities Leading a dedicated Emergency Response Team, you’ll provide decisive direction in times of crisis while overseeing comprehensive medical services that ensure the highest standards of care and compliance. Your focus extends beyond immediate response Developing and refining emergency management plans, coordinating realistic drills, and maintaining the readiness of critical equipment and facilities. Acting as a trusted medical authority, you’ll guide leaders and staff alike in promoting a culture of health, safety, and preparedness. From managing workforce health programs to upholding statutory obligations across jurisdictions, your leadership ensures that every system, process, and person is ready to respond effectively—protecting people, operations, and reputation alike. About you You will demonstrate advanced expertise in emergency response leadership, including incident command and critical decision-making under pressure, as well as medical case management and post-incident reviews. Your competency in designing, facilitating, and debriefing emergency drills and simulations, ensuring teams are prepared and confident in high-stakes situations will be required. Tertiary qualification in health, emergency response, or a related discipline such as paramedicine, nursing, or occupational health or equivalent industry experience Proven capability in leading and coordinating emergency preparedness and response activities within high-risk or remote industrial environments. Strong understanding of workforce health surveillance, medical risk management, and occupational health systems within a mining or heavy industry context. Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and emergency management legislation, regulations, and standards across multiple jurisdictions. Demonstrated experience managing internal and external medical service providers, including governance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement. Insight into how workforce health and emergency response functions align with broader HSE and business risk management frameworks.
