Principal ICT & Security Consultant – AECOM Join to apply for the Principal ICT & Security Consultant role at AECOM. This position is part of our Consulting & Technology team, supporting projects across defence, health, education, sports infrastructure, aviation and justice. Location This role can be based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney. How you’ll make a difference (Responsibilities) Lead the design, delivery and technical assurance of complex ICT and security systems, including structured cabling, active networks, WLAN, IPTV, audio‑visual systems, video conferencing, CCTV, electronic access control, intruder alarm, intercom, perimeter intrusion detection and Type 1A security alarm systems. Provide strategic direction throughout the project lifecycle – early concept development, project costing, design governance, client engagement, contractor oversight and involvement in bids/tenders. Act as a technical authority, mentoring, coaching and developing engineers across the national team while improving design methodologies and standards. Build and maintain strong client relationships, leading stakeholder engagement, overseeing site investigations and delivering commercially‑aware, technically robust solutions. Qualifications & Experience Relevant engineering qualification in Electrical, ICT, Telecommunications or similar, together with professional engineering registration (or eligibility) and the ability to hold a State Security Licence. Ideally 9+ years’ experience within a consultancy or client‑side environment, with deep knowledge of Australian codes, standards and design best‑practice. Outstanding technical leadership and proven track record of directing and coordinating ICT and security design on complex, multi‑stakeholder projects. Extensive experience delivering and leading consultancy services in the built environment, providing technical reviews and strategic project input. Strong consulting mindset with clear communication to technical specialists and non‑technical stakeholders, influencing outcomes at a senior level.
