Terraco is seeking a Senior Town Planner to provide expert planning services to a broad range of clients in Central Victoria. The position offers an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the sustainable growth of Bendigo and surrounds, whilst collaborating in a small, cooperative team environment. Our town planning offerings are diverse and include feasibility advice, preparation of planning applications, development plans and planning scheme amendments. Terraco undertakes a variety of planning projects including land subdivision, development plan approvals, land use and development applications and rezoning proposals. Our range of clientele include local government, business, organisations, communities and individuals. Role and Responsibilities Providing professional planning advice informed by an understanding of local and state government policies, strategies and legislation to a variety of land use and development proposals to colleagues and clients. Assessing project feasibility within the context of the planning scheme, identifying any potential constraints and opportunities for development. Developing and issuing fee proposals. Coordination of planning applications including preparation of planning reports, management of external consultants, review of external technical reports, collation of application materials and lodgement with authorities. Management of the planning process including liaising with relevant Councils and authorities, actions to address Requests for Further Information, satisfying public notice requirements, objection resolution, condition review and client liaison. Skills & Experience 5 years town planning experience preferred. Sound understanding of the Victorian planning scheme, planning strategies and policies, the Planning and Environment Act and other relevant legislation and planning practices and processes. Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting consultant reports and external advice. Strong IT skills and written communication skills (including reporting and issuing technical advice within the context of the planning scheme). Well developed personal communication skills with the ability to explain complex town planning matters in plain language, and build strong professional relationships with clients and industry. Organisational proficiency and the ability to work well without supervision. The ability to work within and lead multi-disciplinary project teams. The Workplace Terraco is a multi-disciplinary consultancy located in Bendigo, servicing Central Victoria for over 20 years in town planning, civil engineering, project management and development consulting. In 2025, Terraco acquired Conceptz, a local town planning consultancy servicing Bendigo since 1998. As a result of this merger, Alex Winfield now leads our town planning discipline as Planning Manager.
