Proteomics Specialist University of Melbourne – Bio21 Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility Pay Range: A$87,266.00 – A$148,023.00 per year (Level A $87,266 – $118,416 p.a.; Level B $124,656 – $148,023 p.a. plus 17% super). Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Role type: Full‑time, Fixed‑Term for 2 years Faculty: Faculty of Science Department/School: Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Overview As a Proteomic Specialist you will support over 300 biochemists and chemists across diverse research themes at the Bio21 Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility. You will design and execute cutting‑edge proteomic experiments, troubleshoot instrumentation, analyse data, and provide training to researchers. Your responsibilities will include: Design and execute proteomic experiments, including TMT/DIA quantification, crosslinking analysis and PTM site analysis. Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance of nano and regular flow HPLC chromatography systems and mass spectrometers. Train and supervise users, teaching researchers how to prepare and analyse their own samples. Analyse mass spectrometric data, prepare reports and contribute to scientific publications. You may be a great fit if: PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with expertise in mass spectrometry techniques. Passion for empowering others through hands‑on training and collaborative research. You may also have: Completed or near completing a PhD focussed on proteomics or lipidomics. Extensive knowledge of proteomic sample preparation and purification techniques. Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining high‑end HPLC and mass spectrometry instrumentation. Proficiency in mass spectrometric analysis software and bioinformatics tools. Excellent written and verbal communication, producing clear reports and manuscripts.
