Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: MelbourneType: 1 year contract About the Role We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to manage, optimise, and support Oracle environments on Exadata Appliances . The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of critical database systems, while driving automation and operational excellence within a collaborative technical team. Duties and Responsibilities Administer, configure, and maintain Oracle Databases on Exadata Appliances . Manage Oracle 19c, Data Guard, RAC, and ASM environments. Monitor system performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other tools. Perform database performance tuning , including query optimisation, indexing, and resource management. Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies . Ensure compliance with database security best practices — access control, encryption, and auditing. Develop and maintain automation scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripting . Manage batch scheduling and automation (experience with Autosys highly desirable). Work collaboratively with internal teams and external Service Providers to resolve issues and deliver enhancements. Provide expert advice on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Database management where required. Skills and Qualifications Required Proven expertise with Oracle Databases on Exadata Appliances . Strong technical knowledge of Oracle 19c, Data Guard, RAC, and ASM . Advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting capabilities. Experience with backup, recovery, and database security management . Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL , and Linux shell scripting for automation. Experience with Azure DevOps / Autosys or other scheduling tools (highly regarded). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills , with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
