Senior Commercial Analyst, Executive Level 1 (Oil & Gas) Department of Industry, Science and Resources – Commercial – Economic Analysis team, National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) and Offshore Infrastructure Registrar. Overview The role supports the day‑to‑day administration of petroleum and greenhouse gas titles in Commonwealth waters, and licence administration for offshore renewable energy projects. You will provide advice on the viability of offshore projects, evaluate key commercial risks and economic metrics, and review internal and external reporting. The Opportunity We seek candidates with commercial analysis, financial modelling, market evaluation skills and experience preparing briefings on offshore petroleum, greenhouse gas storage or electricity infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Use modelling and business expertise to inform commercial, project and benchmarking analysis. Assess evidence and continuously improve data sources and models. Conduct complex analysis across multiple data sources related to offshore projects and corporate entities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver outcomes within defined timeframes. Monitor global events for potential commercial disruptions to offshore projects. Qualifications Corporate cash‑flow modelling or project analysis experience, evaluating commercial feasibility at project and corporate levels. Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with large, multiple data sources. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills within a regulatory framework. Excellent problem‑solving, critical thinking and ability to interpret commercial agreements. Strong, influential communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience. Ongoing professional development to maintain subject‑matter expertise. Relevant qualifications in Finance, Business, Accounting or Economics. Eligibility Australian Citizenship and a baseline security clearance required. Applicants must be willing to undertake and maintain the required clearance. Notes Position is based in Perth or Melbourne; flexible or remote arrangements may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis. A merit pool may be established to fill future vacancies within 18 months.
