Victim Response Officer | Victims of Crime Community Recovery Service Hours: The service is operational Monday to Thursday 5pm to 9am daily, Friday 4pm to Monday 9am, and public holidays. (The service does not require full availability during these times; a reasonable variety of availability is expected.) Location: Remote and onsite opportunities based in Rockhampton, Cairns & Townsville. (On‑site positions may include travel for outreach support; duties can also be performed from a work‑from‑home environment.) Remuneration: From $63.75 p/hr (including casual loading) + Super + NFP Salary Packaging. Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Overview The Victims of Crime Community Recovery (VOCCR) program is a short‑term intervention model that provides individual support in the critical days following a serious violent crime. The program offers immediate brokerage and referrals to assist with long‑term recovery and operates as a 24/7 response in five geographical locations: Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Logan and Ipswich. Responsibilities Operate within a trauma‑informed framework, providing intake and assessment, immediate and practical support to victims, their families, and witnesses impacted by serious violent incidents. Emphasise a combination of phone and face‑to‑face engagement, timely intervention, and collaborative support to address urgent client needs and promote recovery. Qualifications Minimum tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology or Social Science) with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Lesser formal qualifications with considerable skills and extensive, diverse relevant experience to an equivalent standard will be considered. Demonstrated experience in trauma‑informed practice and the ability to apply theory to practice, including crisis response, case management and/or mental health support. Proven ability to communicate respectfully, non‑threateningly and non‑intrusively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. High‑level communication, listening and advocacy skills. Ability to manage change, difficult situations and provide viable solutions. Strong personal resilience to sustain work in environments that may involve vicarious trauma. Commitment to promoting victim‑led recovery and satisfaction. Current Queensland Driver’s Licence. Working with Children Check (Blue Card). Availability to pick up shifts within service hours, including overnight and weekend work.
