Located at Sydney’s Iconic - Taronga Zoo Start date January 2026. Taronga Zoo Sydney is looking for a motivated and willing to learn Apprentice Carpenter to join our Assets team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a school leaver, or someone wishing to enter the trades industry on an apprenticeship. You’ll be working on the zoo grounds on the exhibit facilities for animals such as tigers, elephants, pygmy hippos and gorillas. About the Role Reporting into Leading Hand / Supervisor, the Apprentice * Carpenter* performs trade apprentice duties under the general supervision of a leading hand or supervisor. The apprentice is required to attend TAFE training per week or as required, as part of the standard working week. Key Accountabilities Undertake and learn all the different aspects of the trade that are required as part of the Apprenticeship under the guidance of a qualified carpenter. Attend scheduled TAFE classes and ensure that all necessary TAFE assessments are completed. Undertake general duties as required as part of the TAFE curriculum and apply the learnt skills and knowledge in the workplace. Work effectively as a member of a high‑performing team to assist Taronga in its achievement of strategic outcomes. About You We are looking for candidates that have: Completion of compulsory secondary education. Eligibility to enrol in the relevant TAFE trade course. Hold, working to or eligible to hold a current NSW Driver’s licence, or the ability to have an existing licence formally recognised.
