A Memory Cafe is a safe space for those living with Dementia and their carers to get together for a regular social gathering. They can include activities around craft, music, walking, dancing or whatever you would like Regular social gatherings are the single best thing anyone can do for their health and is particularly beneficial for those living with Dementia. Carers benefit as well from gaining a community of people that are in a similar position. Befriend is looking for people, to help with set up and operations on the day. There are Cafes within the Caversham/Dayton/Bennett Springs area. You will be fully supported and will receive any relevant training. No previous experience is required. Dementia Australia also provides support as needed, so you won't be doing this alone If you feel you would like to be the Coordinator of a new Cafe that too is an option and you will be fully supported to take up this opportunity. Category Community Services Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Companionship & Social Support Disability Support Food Preparation & Service Seniors & Aged Care Time Required Time is dependent upon where your cafe is set up and the opening hours will be determined during the set up and operational process.
