Closing Date 26 Nov 2025, 5:00 AM Job Category TCH Other Organisation Teaching Service – NSW Department of Education Position Information Merimbula Public School has an enrolment of 435 students, including mainstream, High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (9%), English language learners (17%) and students with additional learning needs (20%). The school operates four support classes that provide a tailored environment to optimise student learning through embedded best‑practice teaching and learning programs. The school proudly stands on Djirringanj Country, within the Yuin Nation, and partners with Aurora College for alternate Opportunity Class pathways for students identified as having high potential or gifted. Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities and complex learning and behavioural needs within a support class, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage the dual role of Assistant Principal and exemplary special education teacher. Proven ability to lead teams in designing, implementing and evaluating differentiated learning programs that cater to diverse student needs, supported by effective classroom and trauma‑informed management strategies. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining a high standard of strong, genuine partnerships with parents and various stakeholders in a dynamic setting catering for the educational provision of a range of students with disabilities. Demonstrated capacity and experience in leading teachers to develop and implement innovative and differentiated learning programs, including Personalised Learning and Support Plans, designed to improve outcomes for all students K‑6 with additional learning and support needs. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams. Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
