Melbourne Medical Weight Loss Centre is a new specialist-led multidisciplinary clinic opening in northern Melbourne to provide comprehensive evidence-based obesity management. Operating alongside an established bariatric surgical practice, the clinic delivers integrated care across: Medical assessment and pharmacotherapy Dietetic and nutritional therapy Behavioural and psychological care Pre‑and post‑bariatric surgical support Our clinical framework aligns with WHO multidisciplinary obesity management guidelines and RACGP best‑practice chronic disease models. We are building a collaborative team of GPs with a special interest in obesity medicine to provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a strong governance structure. The Opportunity We invite expressions of interest from VR General Practitioners seeking to work in a focused, well‑supported subspecialty practice . This role provides: Session‑based, flexible consulting Dedicated obesity medicine interest pathway Team‑based care with dietitians, psychologists and exercise physiologists Professional collaboration with a bariatric surgeon Fully supported reception, billing and clinical administration Structured mentoring and protocol‑driven care pathways Option for professional development opportunities and leadership involvement This position is ideal for GPs interested in: Obesity medicine and metabolic health Prescribing GLP‑1‑based therapies within comprehensive care programs Lifestyle and behavioural medicine Chronic disease management Developing extended scope clinical practice Eligibility & Skills Applicants should hold: AHPRA registration as a VR GP Interest in obesity medicine (formal training not essential; mentoring provided) Strong clinical governance mindset Commitment to guideline‑driven, ethical patient care Experience or training in obesity medicine, lifestyle medicine, diabetes or metabolic health is welcomed but not required. Practice Model Doctors operate as independent contractors within a multidisciplinary clinic structure. The clinic provides: Fully equipped consulting rooms and practice management software Reception, appointment booking, and billing support Established referral pathways from hospitals and allied health Marketing and community outreach Clinical documentation frameworks and prescribing protocols Remuneration is via a straightforward percentage of billings arrangement, with flexibility for sessional or progressive role development depending on interest.
