Maitland City Council, Österreich Housing Industry Association Limited Vollzeit

Spray Painter – Full Time/Permanent (Multiple Positions Available) Prepare and paint vehicle bodies to high standards. Work collaboratively with panel-beaters and the repair team. Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. About the Company High St Smash is a long-standing smash-repair and panel-paint workshop based at 247 High St, Maitland NSW 2320, operating as one of the automotive repair businesses owned by Makhdoom Holdings Pty Ltd. With over 25 years of combined industry history across the company’s repair centres, High St Smash specialises in collision repairs, panel beating, refinishing, hail-damage restoration and insurance-approved work. The workshop is committed to high-quality repair standards, efficient turnaround times and consistently professional results on every vehicle. Joining High St Smash means working in a supportive, skilled environment where quality, reliability and strong craftsmanship are the core expectations. Position Purpose We are looking for Spray Painters to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. Multiple positions available. As a Spray Painter at High St Smash, you will be responsible for preparing, painting and finishing vehicle bodies to the high standard our customers expect. You will work alongside panel-beaters, refinishers and the broader repair team in a fast-paced but quality-driven workshop. Key Responsibilities Prepare vehicle surfaces prior to painting – including sanding, masking, cleaning and ensuring correct substrate. Match and mix paint colours, select appropriate materials and ensure consistency and accurate finish. Apply primer, base-coat and clear-coat using spray-gun equipment, maintaining correct technique and timing. Sand between coats, remove masking, polish and buff painted surfaces as required for final presentation. Work with the panel-beating team to integrate repaired or replacement panels and ensure seamless finish. Identify and rectify paint defects – runs, orange peel, mismatches – to deliver a flawless result. Ensure adherence to manufacturer and industry repair procedures, materials and quality standards. Maintain equipment, spray-booth cleanliness, storage of paint products and correct disposal of hazardous waste. Work cooperatively with insurance-approved repair processes and liaise with workshop management to meet turnaround targets. Uphold workplace health & safety practices, including use of PPE, ventilation systems and compliance with relevant regulations. Participate in continuous improvement of repair and paint‑finishing techniques to support workshop efficiency and quality. Record job details, log paint usage, maintain inventory and assist with quality checks and sign‑offs. Communicate effectively with the workshop team, estimators and customers when required, ensuring transparency and high service levels. Mentor less experienced painters or apprentices (where applicable) to uphold team skill levels and company standards. What We Are Looking For Minimum 1 year of relevant paint/refinishing experience in an automotive body-shop environment (ideally in smash repair / insurance repair context). Formal qualification relevant to the occupation – e.g. Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology (or equivalent) or a Diploma in automotive body refinishing. Demonstrated skills in colour matching, spray-painting techniques and finishing work to a high standard. Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship – you treat every vehicle like you owned it. Ability to work efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines without compromising quality, and adapt to changing job-types (minor dents, major collisions, hail damage). Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Awareness of health & safety requirements in spray painting and body repair environment (use of PPE, ventilation, safe handling of chemicals). Flexibility to work full-time, and willingness to assist with other tasks in the workshop as required (within reason). Valid driver’s licence preferred; previous experience in an insurance‑approved repair workshop is an advantage. A strong commitment to delivering high quality results and customer satisfaction — you believe “done well” is the only acceptable outcome. Why Join Us You’ll be part of a long‑established, reputable smash‑repair workshop with more than 25 years of proven results in the Hunter region. Stable, full‑time permanent roles — not seasonal, not temporary, and not uncertain. A professional, well‑equipped workshop using modern repair technology, quality materials, and proper procedures. A work culture that values skill, precision, honesty, and doing the job right — no shortcuts. Supportive team environment where everyone pulls their weight and respects each other’s time and craft. Opportunities to grow your technical ability, take on more responsibility, and develop your trade long‑term. Consistent workflow, steady volume of insurance and private work, and predictable hours. Competitive pay based on experience, plus the chance to increase earnings with performance and skill progression. Management that actually understands the trade and backs their workers instead of micromanaging them. Job satisfaction — you’ll see the impact of your work every day when damaged vehicles leave the shop looking brand‑new. #J-18808-Ljbffr
