Building Trades Assistant

We are seeking a part-time Building Trades Assistant to join the team at FIL'S RENOVATIONS in Canberra ACT 2600 , to help make Canberra's homes better. This part-time position requires availability for 3-4 days per week. The job will particularly suit you if you are already enrolled (or planning to enroll) in Building studies, such as at CIT or University and want "hands on" experience to complement your studies. Flexible hours are available to fit study and personal requirements. We support diversity and inclusion in a respectful and supportive work environment. You will have the full support and mentoring by an innovative team, and work on a diverse range of building projects and you will be trained in the use of a variety of tools, materials, skills and methodologies. What you'll be doing Working with a fun team of collaborative and innovative tradespeople on the installation, repair and maintenance of building components and systems. Learning how to operate hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner and keeping the workplace safe, tidy and organized. Applicants must be 18+ years of age to operate hand and power tools safely. Maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality of work. What we’re looking for Preferably, but not necessarily, previous experience in a building trades or construction support role. Strong practical skills, ability to follow instructions, use of commonsense and initiative to solve problems, ability to forward plan and push work ahead. Enthusiasm, good communication skills, and physical fitness. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality. A keen interest in the building and construction industry. A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A current driver's licence and the ability to transport yourself to job sites.
