About the role Toshiba is seeking an electrical commissioning engineer to join a team that has pioneered the implementation of Toshiba power and storage systems to unique and sometimes remote clients, such as mine sites and oil rigs. The successful completion of these projects has led to further commercial opportunities that Toshiba is now seeking to maximise. This role will primarily be responsible for site-based commissioning, factory and site acceptance testing, as well as servicing the installed base. In addition to this, it will provide engineering expertise through the planning phase and support customers through providing technical assistance. It is estimated the site-based component of this role could be up to 50%, with generous site allowances attached. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in a department that forms a key part of Toshiba power delivery service to our customers. Key Responsibilities Undertaking commissioning activities and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of BESS/UPS and related equipment on sites located in Australia and globally. Undertaking Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of BESS/UPS and related equipment at workshops in Sydney and NSW Central Coast. Working closely with BESS/UPS Engineering team during design and programming phase of the projects. Providing technical support to project delivery teams during construction, commissioning and handover of projects. Providing phone/online support and remote diagnostics to customers, maintaining and enhancing customer relationships through effective communication. Enabling the safe delivery of Toshiba solutions e.g. safety in design risk assessment and regulatory approvals. Work closely with Toshiba teams in Japan and USA to understand Toshiba ESS technology to effectively deploy the technology across TIC regions of responsibility. Work closely with key industry stakeholders and bodies as required for the deployment of Toshiba technology e.g. TNSPs/DNSPs, AEMO, Certification Bodies. This role involves traveling 50% of the time to support project commissioning and service the installed base. This may include overnight stays and international travel. Our ideal candidate will possess At least 3+ years’ relevant work experience in the renewable energy, energy storage and/or UPS applications. Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering. Understanding of working safely within electrical commissioning activities and applying the required processes, discipline and risk controls to keep yourself and others safe. Technical and practical understanding of Power systems and their components, such as BESS, UPS, inverters, generators, switchgear and transformers including troubleshooting connections and operations. Technical understanding of the connection of electrical equipment to Islanded Micro grid or National Electricity Market (NEM). Experience troubleshooting or resolving issues within PLC or microprocessor-based controls, software, and logic: Toshiba/ Wago / Siemens PLC. Highly developed fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Experience working at electrical transmission & distribution sites on maintenance or construction projects in an engineering/commissioning capacity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work on site and away from home based on project requirements. An Australian Driver’s License (essential).
