About The Role We’re looking for an experienced Financial Governance Lead to join our Financial Reporting & Governance team and play a pivotal role in strengthening Coles’ financial control framework. In this role, you’ll lead initiatives that ensure compliance, enhance governance practices, and deliver insights that support strategic decision‑making. You will also; Lead and continuously improve Coles’ financial governance program, strengthening the financial control framework. Drive the implementation of the Financial Governance Roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Prepare high-quality reporting for senior management and the Audit & Risk Committee. Manage relationships with external providers supporting the financial governance program. Provide guidance and oversight to teams conducting financial controls testing. Monitor remediation plans for control testing outcomes to ensure timely and effective resolution. Support the coordination of the Financial Governance Steering Committee to maintain governance priorities and progress. Act as a key liaison with internal and external auditors, ensuring robust audit engagement and compliance. About You And Your Skills You will bring a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement. You will ideally have; CA/CPA or equivalent professional qualification, preferably with training in a Big 4/Mid‑tier accounting firm. Significant experience in an external audit role and/or a financial control or internal audit role. Experience working within large corporates; retail or listed company experience would be advantageous. Strong experience in report writing, including board and Audit & Risk Committee reports and financial governance policies. Practical experience in testing and enhancing financial controls. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate effectively with a broad range of senior stakeholders across the business. Confidence in driving decisions to embed strong financial governance practices across the organisation. Ability to influence perceptions of financial governance, positioning it as an enabler of business performance rather than a compliance focus. What’s in it for you?
