Demonstrated strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, assess, prioritise, and schedule work to achieve effective outcomes in the work area. SC2. Demonstrated high-level oral, written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally and collaboratively with all members of the school community including, contractors and service providers. SC3. Possess the technical knowledge and expertise required for this role, with a proven ability to apply it successfully to oversee buildings and grounds operations. SC4. Demonstrated experience and skills in managing and supervising a team to achieve high-level outcomes of scheduled maintenance tasks, repairs and projects. SC5. Demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to management, including proactively identifying hazards and upcoming maintenance needs, as well as recognising opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in the ongoing maintenance and development of the school facilities and grounds. Role Attendance: Required during school vacation periods Leave: Four weeks annual leave. The Facilities Manager is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the school's buildings and grounds, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations. This role leads and works alongside a small Facilities Team, coordinating task schedules, organising and supervising contractors where required to complete projects and routine maintenance efficiently. Working collaboratively with staff, contractors and wider school community, this position helps maintain a safe, functional, and well‑maintained school environment. Duties include the safe use of tools and equipment and responding promptly to maintenance and safety issues ensuring all work is carried out using established techniques and practices. This role also involves the use of software‑based management systems to log, track and manage maintenance tasks; training will be provided for these systems as required. Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team, the Facilities Manager provides advice and progress updates of building and ground works to support effective planning and decision‑making. Responsibilities This role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities. Leadership & Team Management Lead, manage and support the maintenance team and external contractors/providers Plan and coordinate maintenance tasks to address whole school needs, including preventative maintenance schedules for gates, doors, equipment, fencing, and other facilities Oversee all contractors and service providers, including but not limited to, electricians, plumbers, builders, architects, fire equipment services, test and tag, arborists, etc Oversee the school's cleaning contractor and supplies Lead facilities meetings and communicate maintenance matters to management and School Council, including preparing the agenda and presenting regular maintenance reports Effective management of the maintenance budgets Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Ensure strict compliance with all OH&S regulations, standards and site safety procedures Support management on OH&S issues to promote school safety, addressing concerns and implementing improvements Conduct OH&S inductions for staff, contractors and volunteers Maintain and monitor the calendar of OH&S activities Participate as a member of the OH&S team Undertake audit assessments relating to the role as required Maintenance Operations & Facilities Management Oversee maintenance requests and prioritise works based on urgency Take a hands‑on approach to maintenance tasks when required, including removal of graffiti, emergency repairs, cleaning, deliveries and general repairs Oversee Asset Information Management System (AIMS) and Essential Safety Measures (ESM) program requirements Liaise with builders, architects and other outside organisations regarding any new constructions and ground works Oversee traffic management at the school in consultation with school management and relevant departmental and council agencies Ensure Essential Services Manual is kept up to date to comply with departmental and council regulations Responds to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner Other duties as required by the Principal.
