Humphris Nursery is a large, progressive wholesale nursery with its head office based in Mooroolbark and has a team of 140+ staff across four production sites located in the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and the Yarra Valley. Established in 1879 and cared for by 6 generations of the Humphris family, we’ve modernised and evolved into the market leader that we are today, something we’re incredibly proud of. Due to current openings, we are seeking a Full Time Chemical Sprayer to spray across our four sites. Responsibilities Accurately mix and apply herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers or be open to training in these areas. Operate various machinery incl. tractors, quad bikes and handheld spray equipment. Maintain application logs and complete allocated spray schedules. Inspect, clean and maintain sprayers, pumps, hoses, and nozzles. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and reporting requirements. Implement drift reduction strategies to protect nearby plants and water sources. Follow safe handling and disposal procedures for chemicals. Chemical Certification (chem cert) would be advantageous or must be willing to obtain this certification as Humphris will put successful candidates through the training course. Skills and Competencies Must be mature minded. Must have familiarity with pests, diseases, and appropriate chemical treatments. Must have the ability to read and follow Chemical Labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Must have good communication skills and chemical understanding. We will provide training in mixing, applying, and disposing of pesticides. Must be able to lift and carry heavy spray equipment. Must be comfortable with working in outdoor conditions, including heat, humidity, and wet environments. Must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
