Lead Tenant/Live-In Youth Mentor in Bendigo

As a Lead Tenant/Live-In Youth Mentor your role is to live at the property provided by Anglicare Victoria, together with another Live-In Youth Mentor and two young people aged 16‑19 (who are transitioning out of care). You are expected to provide direction, encouragement and support within the household, act as a positive role model and assist the young people in the house to develop their independent living skills (cooking, budgeting, cleaning, etc.). You are expected to demonstrate a positive and balanced lifestyle and be engaged in some form of employment, study or training. You will be required to participate equally in domestic chores and duties and to ensure that any conflicts arising within the household are dealt with, in a positive and productive manner. The young people at times present with complex needs and may occasionally display challenging behaviours. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive initial training , as well as the opportunity to participate in ongoing training opportunities through Anglicare Victoria and access specialised support services when needed. Additionally, you'll live in a comfortable house in Bendigo, rent and utilities free in addition to the personal satisfaction of assisting those in need to become the best version of themselves. To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need: Essential Ensure a safe, supportive and positive environment that is free from abuse Demonstrate a personal readiness and capacity to become an effective Live‑In Mentor Good understanding or willingness to learn about adolescent development and trauma Promote the positive development and independent living skills of young people Ability to work as part of a team (with the other Live‑In Mentor, the young people and the Anglicare Victoria care team) Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience Voluntary and/or mentoring experience with young people Positive interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence A genuine passion for supporting young people in the community A background in community services, mentoring, social work, youth work, education, health or emergency services will be highly regarded About Anglicare Victoria Lifes made of moments. You are mainly required to be in the home during peak times like mornings, evenings, and overnight, to provide informal supervision and support. However, as you live in the home with another Live‑In Youth Mentor, there is a lot of flexibility.
