Freight Handler and Administrator

Hawkins Transport QLD is looking for a Freight Handler/Administrator to join our Mount Isa Depot. This role is a mix of administration and hands‑on freight handling — ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in a team, and can switch between the office and the yard with ease. Key Responsibilities: Receive and dispatch freight, ensuring accuracy of deliveries and collections Prepare and process consignment notes, freight labels, and manifests Provide administrative support to the finance department Monitor, follow‑up and maintain all aspects of invoice recording General administration support including record maintenance, processing orders and payments as well as managing incoming mail and correspondence Respond to various enquiries both verbally and in writing Follow up with clients to obtain current information and subsequently update records Answer calls and assist with customer queries What You’ll Need: Current C Class Driver’s Licence - Manual (higher licences an advantage) Basic to intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Outlook and Excel Strong attention to detail and time management skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Reliable, professional, and committed to safe work practices Basic knowledge of administrative procedures High level of numeracy skills and attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to meet deadlines A team player who can work autonomously Demonstrated experience in maintaining a high level of confidentiality Why Join Hawkins Transport?
