As a Clinical Coder – Level 1, you’ll translate clinical documentation into accurate ICD-10-AM codes that drive research, planning, and quality outcomes for thousands of patients. These multiple full-time, 12-month temporary contracts offer an excellent entry point into the healthcare sector while building essential workforce capacity. These positions are specifically designed for individuals currently enrolled in or studying clinical coding programs. You will work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, gaining hands‑on experience in medical record coding, and developing expertise in medical terminology and classification systems, while contributing to South Australia’s premier healthcare system. To be eligible for this position, you must be currently enrolled or studying a recognised clinical coding course, or equivalent. Our Local Health Network Sites and Services: Lyell McEwin Hospital – The major hospital in the north and north‑east for emergency care, complex and multi‑day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services. Modbury Hospital – A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub‑acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care. Mental Health – The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Forensic Mental Health – A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.
