Classroom Teacher English/English Literature Copperfield College is a multi‑campus school situated in Melbourne’s North‑West, comprising two junior campuses (Years 7‑10) in Kings Park and Sydenham, and a senior campus (Years 11‑12) at Delahey. The college serves approximately 2,000 students with a culturally diverse student body, where around 60 % come from a language background other than English. The school is committed to delivering high‑quality education, supporting students’ numeracy, literacy and wellbeing, and fostering a collaborative learning community. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – Range 1 and Range 2. The primary focus is planning, preparing and teaching curriculum programmes to achieve specific student outcomes, while engaging in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills. As teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school beyond the classroom increases, and they may undertake additional duties commensurate with their salary range, qualifications and experience. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or other curriculum programmes within the school; Undertaking other classroom‑related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal; Participating in activities such as parent‑teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions; Undertaking other non‑teaching supervisory duties. Selection Criteria SC1 – Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills, and experience in responding to student learning needs. SC2 – Experience in planning for and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, guided by student learning, and evaluating the impact on learning growth. SC3 – Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback to students and parents. SC4 – Interpersonal and communication skills; experience establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community. SC5 – Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values; experience reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve teaching quality. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position. Qualification Requirements The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. If the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate completion of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program recognised by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority. A person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have satisfied the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements, where applicable.
