Reliability Leader – Central Engineering Join OneSteel Whyalla Steelworks as a Reliability Leader within the Central Engineering team, where you'll drive operational excellence and lead a high-performing group of reliability and condition monitoring professionals. This pivotal role is focused on enhancing equipment reliability, reducing costs, and embedding best practices across the site. About the Role As the Reliability Leader, you will oversee a team of seven engineers across reliability, condition monitoring, and lubrication disciplines. Your mission is to deliver expert technical services that improve asset performance and support strategic business outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Leading safety, environmental, and operational security initiatives Providing specialist technical services including asset strategy compliance, statutory inspections, and project delivery Driving quality assurance and process development through audits and customer feedback Managing inventory to align with budget and operational needs Building team capability through coaching, development planning, and performance management Collaboration is central to this role—you’ll work closely with plant users, business unit representatives, and HR to ensure alignment with operational priorities. About You You’re a seasoned engineering professional with at least five years’ experience in heavy industry, and a passion for reliability and continuous improvement. You bring: A degree in engineering and OH&S legislative training Strong leadership and coaching skills, with a commitment to Goal Zero safety culture Deep technical knowledge of reliability principles and condition monitoring Excellent communication, planning, and decision-making abilities Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office A proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to translate business needs into practical solutions You thrive in a collaborative environment and are driven to deliver measurable value through rigorous processes and strategic foresight.
