Eight Ongoing, full-time roles Locations: Batemans Bay, Broken Hill, Campbelltown, Dubbo, Forster, Moree, Murwillumbah & Whalan Flexible working arrangements available, flex time and access to a Fitness passport Attractive salary: $84,659 to $92,701 plus super and annual leave loading About the Role The Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer works as a key member of a team who foster relationships between Aboriginal parents or carers as well as the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). Other important groups are the broader Aboriginal community and NSW Public schools, to support improved outcomes for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander students. This is a significant role where you can make an impact in the community and improve the wellbeing of students' lives. Responsibilities Where appropriate, act as a support for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander students and their families Work with students and families to achieve positive educational and culturally responsive outcomes Foster strong connections between schools and the broader Aboriginal community regarding expectations or circumstances that may impact students' engagement in schools Act as a liaison between local AECG's in the realisation of fulfilling the Partnership Agreement Assist with strengthening the knowledge, understanding and application of departmental systems and process for Aboriginal parents or carers Be a liaison between the Aboriginal Education and Communities directorate, schools and across Government and non-Government agencies Develop culturally responsive solutions for Aboriginal students About You Be motivated to develop and maintain relationships with the local Aboriginal and School communities The ability to manage stakeholders at all levels Strong communication and people skills Lead by example and be an advocate for change The ability to be culturally sensitive and display empathy in your approach when dealing with sensitive matters Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people. Essential Requirements Of the Role This position is designated for the employment of an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander person.
