School Based Apprentice or Trainee - Building and Trade Services Join the City of Newcastle, Australia. Overview Through your work, you’ll have a behind the scenes pass to Newcastle's evolution as you shape our future as a livable, inclusive city. City of Newcastle has an exciting opportunity for a high school student to gain hands‑on experience in a trade or business area while completing their secondary education. This opportunity will allow you to be part of our Building Trade Services Team, giving you insight and exposure to our City Infrastructure directorate and the extensive projects and assets the City of Newcastle is responsible for managing and maintaining. Responsibilities Providing assistance to tradespeople and staff with general tasks Learning safe work practices Contributing to the maintenance and improvement of Council assets Qualifications Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification authorised under Section 14 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Successful applicants may be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality. Benefits and Working Hours 7 hours per week – wages to be discussed at interview.
